TenguKuru's News

Posted by TenguKuru - July 8th, 2024

sorry for the two nigh-consecutive news post in a row but i've got to share this

was (seeing as to how i did that yesterday, continuing) scrolling through art tutorials to try to get better at digital art

...they all sucked and most of the tips/tricks were only appliable to drawing tablet artists, i'm a mouse artist

"why not just buy a drawing tablet" because they're overrated, my parents would probably put it off until way later because they just do whatever they feel like when it comes to me (in order for me to buy stuff online, they'd have to take my cash to the bank to put it on my cashapp card), and the last time i had a drawing tablet, this is what i was able to create with it:

the drawing is shit

drawing tablets are shit

most artist "tutorials" are shit

so anyways i decided to search up art tutorials for mouse artists and-

i think i've just struck gold

precise usage of the bezier curve tool while using the eraser tool every now and then to mimic tip endings... genius

this could be an amazing skill to learn if done properly

there's also this-

-but you'll have to be very, very, very precise with the tools

and don't forget: the smaller your drawing is, the more pixelated and crusty it will look

been watching some more art tutorials and they're saying that i should use bigger canvas ratios

..but i draw better in smaller canvases, and resizing the drawings makes them look really blurry so it's hard to add the lineart on top...

what a damn shame...

oh well

not that i care

deviantart was ass anyway

too many flaming gays and fill-in "memers"

i was only on there to troll and fuck around. i've had my fun, time to focus on other, more important things now...

the only thing i'm a little concerned about is the people i actually care about there not being able to interact with me anymore

...i guess i'll just have to hope they find out about my newgrounds account

been watching digimon fusion and adventure recently

they're fun... even though the main characters have ZERO sense of fashion and the digimon designs range from "retarded" to "holy SHIT.."

iu_1231042_21121944.png

anyways have a wip drawing i'm working on

i've came up with this tactic of drawing tiny, nigh-simplistic sketches (as i don't do well with drawing big things) and resizing them when it's time to add the lineart, adding details i couldn't do before, hence why i drew tai the way i did

the reason that the shoe outline is orange while everything else is red is because of my ever persistent laptop problems that cause orange and red to look the same to me, and the only reason i know this is because i can take screenshots of them and send them to my phone via opera gx's "my flow" where i can see the correct colors

GOD i need a new pc

i hate how almost everyone feels like every single fictional character in existance needs to be queer when it's pride month

and then when you call them out for queerwashing, you're "homophobic" (allegedly)

it gets on my nerves especially when the character in question doesn't even seem like they would be queer

sticking to the things i've said in my last post i decided to try using shapes and-

why does it still suck

methinks the reason why my art doesn't look smooth and seemless like most other users is because

  1. krita is shit
  2. they're using a vector art program, i'm not
  3. they're drawing with a pen and a drawing tablet, i'm drawing with a touchpad
  4. they simply have more experience than me
  5. i'm not using shapes

see, most speedpaints usually show the artist using shapes to draw, and the finished piece looks really good (most of the time)

but when i draw i don't use shapes, i just draw a stickfigure that references this image-

iu_1219913_21121944.png

-from this post, use it as my basis for my drawing with the image i have in mind as another reference, and try to draw over it while cutting a few corners if necessary (for example, sometimes the heads of the characters i draw aren't in proportion with the stickfigure's head. this happens a lot with other body parts but it usually happens with the head as i struggle drawing it the most for some reason)

i'm thinking that if i can get a better understanding of shapes then maybe my drawings will look as cool as the mangas i read and the animes i watch

...nooooo i'm not a weeb

you're a weeb. you.
