methinks the reason why my art doesn't look smooth and seemless like most other users is because

  1. krita is shit
  2. they're using a vector art program, i'm not
  3. they're drawing with a pen and a drawing tablet, i'm drawing with a touchpad
  4. they simply have more experience than me
  5. i'm not using shapes

see, most speedpaints usually show the artist using shapes to draw, and the finished piece looks really good (most of the time)

but when i draw i don't use shapes, i just draw a stickfigure that references this image-

iu_1219913_21121944.png

-from this post, use it as my basis for my drawing with the image i have in mind as another reference, and try to draw over it while cutting a few corners if necessary (for example, sometimes the heads of the characters i draw aren't in proportion with the stickfigure's head. this happens a lot with other body parts but it usually happens with the head as i struggle drawing it the most for some reason)

i'm thinking that if i can get a better understanding of shapes then maybe my drawings will look as cool as the mangas i read and the animes i watch

...nooooo i'm not a weeb

you're a weeb. you.
